One of Superior Structural Corporation’s latest accomplishments is utilizing the DAITO CRII to increase efficiency and reduce lead times while maintaining high quality steel products. Recently, a customer’s project required 145 wide flange beams to be cut and burned to length, coped, holes slotted, stiffeners added and studs welded in place. Superior Structural’s shop completed this challenging task in 1/3 of the time it would have taken using the old and outdated processes.

DAITO Production

While the DAITO CRII is decreasing steel product lead times, the Knuth Plasma Jet has allowed Superior Structural to diversify its steel products to miscellaneous fabrications. Several firearm enthusiasts contacted us to fabricate bullet traps used for target practice.

Front of DAITO CRII 1040

As part of Superior Structural Corporation’s long-term plan to grow the business, reduce fabrication lead times, increase precision and improve accuracy, phase two of the plan was achieved by purchasing a DAITO CRII 1040 CNC Plasma Coping Robot powered by Hypertherm High Performance Plasma technology. With a “Verascope” robot, the DAITO is capable of beveling; notching; mitering; cutting holes, slots, and circles; marking characters and lines; flange reduction; plus stitch cutting and beam splitting. Some of the DAITO’s impressive specifications include a 100 feet per minute material feed, 350 lbs per foot material load, and 27-3/4″ (Length wise), 40″ (Cross Wise), 15-3/4″ (Up and Down) Robot Travel. This operational machine accurately fabricates steel eliminating the need for a drill line, coping line, and angle line.
